sugarstacksIf you are teaching nutrition and you want to show your students how much sugar the food they eat contains, Sugar Stacks is certainly a good resource. It shows photos of food item in various categories : beverages, desserts, snacks, fruits, vegetables, low fat snacks, candy, cookies, sauces, breakfast foods, shakes and smoothies and acai berry. On the photo, there is a certain number of sugar cubes corresponding to the amount of sugar contained in the food. As an example, in an orange, there are about 6 sugar cubes, in a redbull about 7 cubes and in a 20 oz bottle of Mountain Dew, there are about 20 sugar cubes. Now the websites doesn’t differentiate if the sugar content is low or high on the glycemic index, which is extremely important when studying nutrition, but it is still a fun way to visually look at sugar content.
